Northern & Regional Economic Development (NRED) Program: Open Until Nov 28

Canada Alberta Productivity Grant(CAPG): Now Open with Applications Accepted Year-Round
 CAPG helps employers invest in training that focuses on enhancing productivity skills for their current and future employees that aligns with the needs of their business. It is an employer-driven program meant to partially reimburse the cost for an employer to send their employee(s) for training.
Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Program: Applications will be open Nov 4 – Dec 11
 CSJ provides wage subsidies to support employers to create quality summer work experiences for youth aged 15 to 30 years. Not-for-profit employers can receive a wage subsidy of up to 100% of the current provincial minimum hourly wage. Public and private sector (with 50 or fewer full-time employees) employers are eligible to receive a wage subsidy of up to 50% of the current provincial minimum hourly wage. Alberta Youth Employment Incentive Program
 Grants are available for employers to offset costs associated with hiring, training, and employing youth aged 15 – 24. Incentive amounts range from $4K - $7.5K

 Jobs, Economy, Trade & Immigration (JETI) recently release two new Trade websites: New content includes a contact page, general trade key messages and a trade events page.
Choose Alberta, Canada (alberta.ca/choosealberta) – for international audiences to highlight Alberta’s trade and investment strengths, opportunities and resources.
Resources for Alberta Exporters (alberta.ca/export) – for domestic audiences to highlight missions, the Alberta Export Expansion Program (AEEP), the Trade Accelerator Program (TAP) and other resources

Economic Statistics Insights: Canadian Survey of Interprovincial Trade – Alberta 2023
The Canadian Survey on Interprovincial Trade (CSIT) was conducted by Statistics Canada for the first time in 2024.
Alberta led in interprovincial sales: 32% of Alberta firms sold to interprovincial customers, primarily in BC, SK and ON. Further, 51% of Alberta businesses bought from interprovincial suppliers, mainly in ON, BC and SK.
Wholesale & manufacturing are most active in interprovincial sales and purchases, while health & social services are least active.
Transportation cost was the top barrier to interprovincial sales and purchases, followed by distance between point of origin and destination and provincial and territorial tax laws.
Indigenous Navigator Service
 Indigenous businesses and owners, organizations, and communities can contact navigator@sac-isc.gc.ca to get help accessing various federal programs and services. You can get help with accessing capital, attaining expert advice, community economic development planning, and more.
When you send in your request to navigator@sac-isc.gc.ca, please also provide your business / community / organization name, the size of your organization, the sector your work in (i.e. manufacturing or hospitality), your location, and the type of assistance you’re looking for (funding, loans, procurement, etc.).
Ethnocultural Grant & Anti-Racism Grant: Now Open until Dec 19
The Ethnocultural Grant Program supports projects that build more inclusive communities while bringing people from different backgrounds together. Up to $50K is available for initiatives that create opportunities to build connections with ethnocultural and Indigenous groups, and up to $15K will go toward projects that celebrate diversity.
The Anti-Racism Grant Program helps communities build capacity to combat discrimination and address racism. Up to $10K will support initiatives that both educate people living in Alberta and build organizational capacity to support anti-racism work, and up to $5K will go to projects that raise awareness of racism and its impacts.
